Notice. Since December 2025 (Tuscany precedent) municipalities in high tourist-density areas may impose their own new caps on top of the national CIN — the local layer is now actively expanding city by city.

How to register in Italy

  1. Verify whether your region runs its own pre-CIN registry (some regions issue a regional code, CIR, that must be obtained first).
  2. Register the property in the national BDSR database to obtain the CIN.
  3. Display the CIN on every listing and at the property entrance where required by local rules.
  4. Check municipal rules separately — Milan requires a SCIA filing with the local SUAP; other cities are adding density-based caps.
