Notice. Belgium has no single national scheme — registration requirements differ by region (Brussels, Flanders, Wallonia); verify the region-specific rule before assuming a Brussels registration covers a Flanders property or vice versa.

How to register in Belgium

  1. In Brussels: register via the Brussels Economy and Employment portal to obtain a tourist accommodation registration number before listing.
  2. In Flanders: notify Toerisme Vlaanderen online under the Logiesdecreet, even for occasional letting, and display the issued registration number.
  3. Check the applicable VAT rate on furnished short-term accommodation (6% in 2025, a rise to 12% possible in 2026).
  4. Collect and remit the municipal tourist tax where applicable.
